EMS 911 Operator – Full-time, Tyler, TX

About the role

Join UT Health East Texas as a full-time EMS 911 Operator in Tyler, TX. You will be the first point of contact for emergency ambulance requests, ensuring rapid, accurate dispatch in line with medical protocols. You will work alongside a team that operates more than 50 ambulances and multiple helicopters, providing rapid access to care across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process ambulance service requests by telephone following established medical protocols.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and external callers to gather essential information.
• Accurately document calls and dispatch details in the system.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to type with reasonable accuracy.
• Strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Problem-solving ability in situations with limited standardization.

Required skills

• Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification (training provided, must be obtained within 60 days of hire).
• Proficient use of MPDS EMD protocols after training.
