Emergency Room Secretary (Part-Time)

About the role

The Emergency Room Secretary provides front‑desk support at the nursing station, acting as the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and internal staff. This part‑time position helps maintain smooth patient flow and ensures accurate documentation in a fast‑paced emergency department.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and assist internal and external customers, patients calling or presenting at the desk.
• Process orders and coordinate patient care as directed by RNs, PAs, and physicians.
• Facilitate patient flow and arrange timely care delivery.
• Compile departmental data and generate statistics for reporting.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Terminology course or comparable experience.
• American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• Ability to understand policies, follow instructions, and make critical decisions.
• Detail‑oriented, mentally alert, and capable of handling multiple tasks and interruptions.
• Self‑directed with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and remaining calm in emergency situations.
