Emergency Medicine NP/PA – Advanced Practice Clinician (Athens, TX)

About the role

TeamHealth is seeking a qualified Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the UT Health‑Athens Emergency Department in Athens, Texas. You will provide advanced clinical care in a Level IV trauma and Level 4 stroke‑certified facility serving approximately 26,000 patients annually.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostics, and initiate treatment for emergency patients.
• Document all encounters using the EPIC EMR system and CLEO dictation to ensure accurate, real‑time records.
• Collaborate with physicians during 12‑hour shifts to deliver continuous 24‑hour coverage.
• Apply trauma and stroke protocols in accordance with Level IV trauma and Level 4 stroke center standards.
• Maintain compliance with Texas medical licensing and DEA requirements.

Required profile

• Current or obtainable Texas medical license and DEA registration.
• Experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in an emergency medicine setting.
• Willingness to work 12‑hour shifts and provide 24‑hour APC coverage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC EMR.
• Experience using CLEO dictation for clinical documentation.
• Ability to manage trauma and stroke patients according to established protocols.
