Emergency Department Registered Nurse - Days

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in Orlando, Florida, working days (7am-7pm, 36-hour shift). The position offers a sign-on bonus and a pay range of $31.85-$52.76. Eligible clinicians can also earn salary increases of up to 20% through a voluntary Clinical Ladder Program.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients' physical, mental and emotional health.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans and monitor patient progress, adjusting them as needed.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists.
• Document assessments, care plans, interventions and outcomes in the patient's medical record.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and educate patients and families about their diagnosis and treatment options.
• Supervise nursing and support staff, evaluate discharge planning needs and coordinate discharge.
• Ensure compliance with policies and protocols and resolve issues related to patient care, staffing and resources.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
• 1+ years of emergency department experience.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred).
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure, manage stress and work independently in a busy environment.
• Internship or preceptorship depending on nursing experience; most employees need at least 12 months after orientation to reach proficiency.

Required skills

• Demonstrated acute-care nursing knowledge and skills.
• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet unit-specific competencies.
