Emergency Department Manager

About the role

Citizens Health is seeking a registered nurse to lead the Emergency Department and Trauma program at its 25‑bed critical access hospital in Colby, Kansas. This full‑time position provides clinical and operational leadership while also serving as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and revise policies to ensure efficient, high‑quality patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Oversee all aspects of the Trauma program, including clinical protocols, education, performance improvement, and registry management.
• Coordinate monthly safety committee meetings and maintain Emergency Preparedness policies in line with CMS guidelines.
• Act as liaison between ED staff, other departments, EMS agencies, patients, families and community groups.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse licensed in Kansas (or eligible for licensure).
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, with at least 2 years in an emergency department setting.
• Prior leadership or charge‑nurse experience and strong understanding of ED protocols.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EMR systems.
• Experience using surgical scheduling software.
