Embedded Software Engineer – Airborne Systems

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop safety‑critical airborne software for its electric aircraft. The role involves designing, implementing, and integrating embedded C and Assembly code for ARM‑based microcontrollers while ensuring compliance with RTCA DO‑178C standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze system requirements and develop high‑level and low‑level software specifications for airborne systems.
• Architect, design, and implement embedded software in C and Assembly for ARM microcontroller targets.
• Integrate software with hardware, perform performance testing, and troubleshoot timing and execution issues.
• Conduct peer reviews and collaborate with verification teams to support DO‑178C compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of real‑time embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C programming and familiarity with Texas Instruments Hercules or STM ARM microcontrollers.
• Ability to read schematics, technical documentation, and use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.

Required skills

• C and Assembly programming languages.
• ARM Cortex‑R5F, C2000, or Infineon TriCore microcontrollers.
• Experience with DO‑178C compliance processes.
• Knowledge of communication interfaces: SPI, I2C, CAN, ARINC 429, Ethernet, ADC, DMA, and sensor integration.
