Elementary Guidance Counselor – Full‑time

About the role

The Manistique Area Schools are seeking a full‑time Elementary Guidance Counselor to support the social‑emotional, behavioral, and academic development of elementary students. This position works within a collaborative school environment to promote a safe and positive climate.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom guidance lessons covering social‑emotional learning, conflict resolution, and bullying prevention.
  • Provide individual and small‑group counseling for behavioral, social‑emotional, and academic needs.
  • Collaborate on Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) teams, monitor student progress, and assist with 504 plans and IEP support.
  • Act as a first responder for student emotional crises and safety concerns.
  • Partner with parents, teachers, and administration to foster a positive school climate and connect families with community resources.
  • Introduce career exploration aligned with Michigan career pathways.
