Electronic Security Technician

About the role

Johnson Controls Federal Systems is seeking a commercial or industrial Electronic Security Technician to work at a federal government site in Norfolk, VA. The role involves installing, testing, and maintaining electronic security systems for critical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Install and service commercial Electronic Security Systems, including access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems such as Genetec, C‑cure 9000, Lenel, DMP, Bosch, Exacqvision, MDI, and American Dynamics.
• Perform system programming, testing, and verification to ensure proper operation and signal transmission to monitoring centers.
• Coordinate installations with police/fire departments, maintain records for emergency notifications, and provide end‑user training.
• Prepare estimates as directed, work safely, and clean up installation debris.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial/industrial integrated security systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Genetec, SoftwareHouse C‑cure 9000, Lenel, DMP, Bosch, Exacqvision, MDI, American Dynamics.
• Proficiency with access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and low‑voltage systems.
• Use of hand and power tools for equipment mounting and securing.

• Pay range $25.00‑$38.00 per hour, negotiable based on experience.
