Electrical Engineer Staff – Hybrid (Houston, TX)

About the role

We are seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join BASF’s Global Engineering team in Houston, Texas. The role is hybrid and focuses on leading electrical design activities for greenfield and brownfield capital projects within the chemical and petro‑chemical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, cost estimates and specifications for electrical equipment.
• Produce construction work packages and ensure design quality throughout all project phases.
• Execute and review power system studies, guaranteeing NEC compliance and reliability.
• Lead technical bid evaluations, support procurement and oversee equipment selection.
• Provide technical oversight during installation, testing, energization, startup and commissioning.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, project engineering, vendors and external partners to drive successful project execution.
• Drive innovative, safe and sustainable engineering solutions that improve reliability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical engineering for chemical or petro‑chemical projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC standards and power system analysis.
• Ability to develop detailed cost estimates and technical specifications.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and external engineering partners.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills during construction‑phase challenges.
