Electrical Engineer - New Product Development

About the role

Arctic Compressor builds high-pressure breathing air solutions and is looking for a versatile Electrical Engineer to join its engineering and new product development team. The engineer makes products smarter, easier to use and more reliable, working alongside engineering and production teams. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and is full-time, regular and exempt.

Key responsibilities

• Create and revise electrical schematics, lay out custom PCBs and build prototype control panels.
• Write code and instructions for microcontrollers (STM/Arduino), VFDs and battery-powered inverter systems that communicate with air pressure transducers and industrial automation sensors.
• Apply Design For Manufacturing (DFM) principles to work with engineering and production teams.
• Maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and work with MRP/ERP software to move designs from prototype to production.
• Take part in physical assembly and testing of prototypes on the production floor, including soldering and crimping wires and PCBs.
• Keep clear schematics and documentation so the team can manufacture, service and support the product.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics or equivalent practical, hands-on experience.
• Experience as an Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer or similar technical, hands-on role.
• Ability to describe projects you have personally built, wired, designed or coded, professionally or in your own garage.
• Comfortable switching between design work and hands-on troubleshooting on the shop floor.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, KiCad, MRP/ERP/PDM and basic microcontroller programming.
• General electrical troubleshooting.
