Electrical Engineer

About the role

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is hiring an Electrical Engineer for its Office of Realty and Capital Planning in Springfield, IL. The position operates and maintains electrical systems and equipment in state-owned buildings and facilities, including on-site solar panel installations and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, and works with staff engineers and architects on electrical engineering duties.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical installations from inception to completed plans and specifications.
• Review electrical plans and specifications prepared by associate engineers and write electrical amendments.
• Check electrical shop drawings submitted by contractors.
• Attend conferences with associate architects on preliminary plans and specifications.
• Assist in directing and managing staff engineers and architects on electrical engineering work.
• Perform professional electrical engineering work covering investigation, layout, design, construction and installation.

Required profile

• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor employment visas.
• Bilingual skills are welcome.

What we offer

• Anticipated starting salary of $7,602 per month, with a full range of $7,602 to $11,110 per month.
• Full-time, salaried position, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
• Hybrid schedule of 2 to 5 days per week in the office, depending on operational needs.
• Union position covered by the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
