Electrical Engineer II, Aircraft Power Systems

About the role

Shield AI is a defense-tech company developing AI pilots for aircraft, including the V-BAT aircraft designed for demanding, high-stakes environments. It is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the V-BAT electrical engineering team, focused on designing, integrating and troubleshooting power systems for the aircraft and ground support systems. The role suits someone with a solid foundation in power systems and embedded systems who wants to own challenging projects and see their work move quickly from concept to flight.

Key responsibilities

• Circuit and subsystem design for V-BAT and its support equipment, including complex architectures using custom circuitry (power management, analog, digital, servos, microcontrollers, sensors, radios)
• Design and integration of complex power systems
• Lead avionics systems troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Own component selection, schematic capture, simulation, analysis, verification, debugging and release to production
• Work with mechanical, embedded, software, manufacturing and supply chain teams
• Work with firmware to integrate logic designs into the build and release cycle
• Identify improvements in hardware projects and propose and implement solutions that improve efficiency, quality and aircraft reliability

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent work experience
• Experience as an electrical engineer, such as full-time, internship, co-op or engineering club
• Experience in complex power system design is a plus
• Strong technical fundamentals
• Demonstrated ownership and ability to deliver outstanding outcomes
