Electrical Engineer - Critical Infrastructure & Facilities

About the role

Impulse Space is looking for an Electrical Engineer for Critical Infrastructure & Facilities to advance its aerospace capabilities by leading the development of its facilities. Based at the Redondo Beach headquarters, the engineer owns the full lifecycle of facility projects, from conceptual design and planning to implementation, working closely with the team and also with the Mojave test site.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan and execute site facility improvement projects with engineers, contractors, fabricators and stakeholders
• Manage project budgets and give regular financial updates
• Oversee new construction projects, directly or through contractors
• Identify risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies
• Manage third-party vendors and service providers against contract terms
• Ensure code compliance and adherence to local and federal regulations
• Manage sizing, installation and maintenance of infrastructure, buildings, HVAC, high-power electrical systems, water infrastructure and grounds
• Lead the project team, consulting engineers and contractors through engineering, procurement, construction and activation
• Coordinate with utility providers for reliable power service
• Evaluate existing facilities and implement improvements, and resolve field conflicts

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in a related engineering or technology field
• 4+ years of experience in facilities engineering or a related field
• Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (the text also asks for 5+ years of plumbing design and operation experience)
• Experience designing, creating and managing facility drawings and layouts
• Understanding of relevant regulations, codes and standards
• Ability to work extended hours, travel as needed, and manage multiple projects

• Electrical and power distribution systems, including UPS, backup generators, automatic transfer switches and solar power
• Cryogenic liquid and high-pressure industrial gas systems, and deionized water treatment systems
