Election Season Communications Intern

About the role

Arc Initiatives is seeking a motivated Communications Intern to support its health‑care advocacy team during the 2026 election season. The intern will help drive media coverage for a national bus tour that highlights Republican cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the campaign team in planning and executing virtual and in‑person media events.
• Conduct outreach to newsrooms, securing attendance and coverage.
• Monitor and log media coverage of events and related policy issues.
• Support the creation of briefing materials and talking points for spokespeople.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or individual seeking hands‑on experience in public affairs, political communication, or digital strategy.
• Some background in advocacy, political campaigns, or work for elected officials.
• Highly organized, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and a sense of humor.

• Ability to conduct media outreach and stakeholder engagement.

What we offer

• Hourly pay of $20.
• Hybrid schedule with three days onsite per week.
• 20‑30 hours per week, fixed‑term through November 6 2026.
• Accrued paid sick and safe leave in accordance with D.C. law.
