About the role
The Education Coordinator will lead and develop educational programs at Franklin Park Zoo, serving both on‑site visitors and community partners such as the Countdown to Kindergarten initiative. This full‑time position reports to the Education Manager and plays a key role in delivering the summer ZooCamp and other seasonal programs.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and evaluate curriculum for ZooCamp and family‑focused programs.
- Hire, train and supervise seasonal staff, volunteers and interns.
- Deliver on‑site and off‑site education sessions for schools, scouts and the public.
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts recreational camp safety standards.
- Travel weekly to Stone Zoo to support partner programming.
- Assist the Education Manager with additional duties as needed.
Required profile
- Background in environmental education or biological sciences.
- At least one year of experience in museum, non‑formal education, classroom teaching or summer camp settings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
