ECAD/MCAD Symbol Librarian

About the role

Etched builds AI chips tailored to specific model architectures, and is looking for an experienced ECAD/MCAD Librarian to manage and maintain its symbol and component libraries. The role ensures seamless integration between electrical and mechanical design workflows while supporting design for manufacturability (DFM). It is based in Cupertino.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and organize the ECAD library for Allegro Layout PCB footprints and the MCAD library for Siemens NX, aligned with design team requirements and project specifications.
• Create and validate complex schematic symbols and PCB footprints for Allegro Layout, complying with IPC standards and company guidelines.
• Develop and maintain accurate 3D models and metadata for electronic components in Siemens NX, integrated into mechanical assemblies.
• Work with the manufacturing team to adjust symbols and footprints so they meet DFM requirements and JEDEC standards.
• Partner with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate ECAD and MCAD accurately and minimize errors.
• Set up and enforce best practices for library version control, part approvals and data integrity, keeping libraries synchronized and up to date.
• Work with component suppliers to obtain accurate technical data and check symbols, footprints and models for quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of ECAD/MCAD library management, including creating Allegro Layout symbols and Siemens NX 3D models.
• Experience working directly with manufacturing teams to adapt designs for manufacturability and yield.
• Experience with version control systems for ECAD/MCAD libraries, such as Git or PLM software.
• Knowledge of BOM management and integration with ECAD/MCAD libraries.

Required skills

• Allegro PCB Editor and Siemens NX for symbol and model creation.
• Understanding of Part Life Cycle, EOL parts and RoHS, EU.
• IPC standards for PCB footprints, JEDEC standards for manufacturability and mechanical tolerances for component modeling.
• Scripting languages such as SKILL for Allegro or NX Open to automate library tasks.
