Drafter / CAD Designer (TS/SCI)

About the role

CACI is hiring a Drafter/CAD Designer in Aberdeen Proving Ground to carry out computer-aided design within the program's hardware and deliverable development lifecycle. The role ensures that products, drawings and documentation meet quality standards while supporting engineers with accurate, compliant CAD artifacts, helping reduce rework and improve product reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design on multiple projects through all phases of the product lifecycle, taking direction from lead project mechanical engineers.
• Develop and update 2D/3D CAD models, assemblies and engineering drawings.
• Prepare shop drawings, design documentation and layouts for fabrication and prototyping.
• Ensure CAD outputs comply with industry standards, program specifications and configuration management requirements.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness and compliance, and turn conceptual designs into finalized technical CAD artifacts.
• Create part models, assembly layouts, detailed drawings and bills of materials using Creo.

Required profile

• Active TS/SCI polygraph clearance.
• 3-5 years of combined experience in CAD design/drafting and quality assurance.
• Preferred: experience supporting hardware, prototyping or engineering development environments.
• Familiarity with configuration management and quality documentation practices.
• Ability to read, interpret and produce technical drawings, schematics and documentation, with strong attention to detail and effective communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo or similar.
• PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM for 3D parametric models and 2D assembly drawings.
• MIL-STD-31000 for Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
• ASME Y14.100 and military data standards.
• QA procedures, inspections, audits or test plans.
