Documentation Reviewer (Engineering Technician III)

About the role

The State of Illinois, Department of Transportation, is hiring one Documentation Reviewer (Engineering Technician III) in Dixon, IL. The position assists the Documentation Technician with progress and final documentation audits of records prepared by Resident Engineers and/or Technicians, verifies construction contract items, compiles final contract pay quantities and submits the required documents to the central office to initiate final payment to contractors. It is a full-time, salaried union position with anticipated hybrid availability of 1 to 5 days per week in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct progress and final documentation audits to ensure the data needed to verify contractor work and justify federal reimbursement is present.
• Review and process change orders, weekly reports and pay estimates.
• Compile final contract pay quantities and prepare and submit final papers to start final payment to contractors.
• Guide state and local agency resident engineers, technicians and contractors on proper documentation to speed up audits.
• Provide complete and accurate documentation and coordinate with consultants.
• Perform duties in line with departmental safety rules and in a way that treats all employees fairly.

Required profile

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the state does not sponsor employment visas.

What we offer

• Anticipated starting salary of $4,159 per month, with a range of $4,159 to $7,187 per month.
• Work hours 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Hybrid schedule of 1 to 5 days per week in the office, depending on operational needs.
