DLAM Operational Support Specialist (Transient)

About the role

The DLAM Operational Support Specialist provides cross‑functional operational assistance across multiple Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine facilities. This transient, fixed‑term position ensures continuity of daily operations, supporting animal care, sanitation, equipment use, and inventory management while adapting to shifting departmental needs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning, sanitation, and routine operational duties in large‑animal hospitals, research barns, vivarium dog kennels, and other animal‑care areas.
• Provide routine animal care in vivarium, research, and life‑science settings according to established procedures.
• Maintain accurate animal reports, daily census records, room logs, and other required documentation.
• Observe animals, report health concerns promptly to supervisors or veterinary staff.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, organizing, and stocking supplies.
• Provide coverage and operational support across multiple DLAM work areas as needed.
• Safely operate forklifts, tractors, cage‑washing equipment, and other departmental machinery, following safety protocols.
• Participate in cross‑training, special projects, emergency operations, and other related duties.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (minimum qualification).
