Divisional Controller – Construction Finance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Divisional Controller to lead the finance function for a self‑performing construction division in Miami. The role provides financial leadership, ensures accurate reporting, and supports strategic decisions across commercial construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting activities for the construction division and align them with business objectives.
• Partner with project accountants and operational leaders to monitor job performance, review costs and enhance financial visibility.
• Prepare and review timely financial statements, profit & loss reports, cash‑flow analysis and risk assessments.
• Manage work‑in‑progress reporting and track project financial status throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Support funding planning for new work by evaluating financial needs and coordinating construction financing documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, construction regulations and lien‑law requirements; act as primary contact for external auditors.
• Lead teams related to contracts, audit activities and tax coordination to maintain effective financial controls.
• Strengthen internal accounting processes to improve reporting reliability and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, with substantial time in construction organizations.
• Strong knowledge of lien laws and construction‑related compliance requirements.
• Preferably 10+ years in a general contractor or major subcontractor environment.
• BA in Accounting; Master’s degree or CPA is a plus.
