District Manager - New Jersey North

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a District Manager for the North New Jersey district, a multi-site position supporting stores in Paramus, Clifton, Secaucus, Lodi, Passaic, Mahwah, Hackensack and North Bergen. The District Manager leads profitable operations across several stores, acting as a liaison between regional leadership and the stores and coaching store management to drive sales through customer service, in-stock availability and store appearance.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze sales, financial and store reporting, review district shrink and safety performance, and guide store leadership toward improvement
• Communicate with the Regional Vice President and regional team, set the district's direction and resolve issues
• Conduct store walks with store managers and assess sales, service and profitability opportunities
• Coach store managers on customer service and sales, and resolve escalated customer care issues
• Train and coach store leaders on termination counseling, performance problems and associate relations, and resolve people issues such as store morale and training needs
• Build a pipeline of store leaders through succession planning, annual and mid-year reviews and development plans
• Maximize inventory turns by improving in-stock levels and reducing slow-moving merchandise, and improve operations in receiving, front end, tool rental and interconnected retail

Required profile

• At least 3 years of prior merchandising and/or operational experience, preferably retail
• At least 3 years of leadership experience, preferably retail
• High school diploma or GED; preferred: bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field
• Able to work a flexible, minimum 55-hour weekly schedule
• Legally permitted to work in the United States

Travel is typically required 20% to 50% of the time, mostly overnight. The pay range for this position is $150,000 to $194,000.
