Distribution Center Area Supervisor

About the role

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to run the distribution center efficiently, safely and productively. The role handles management responsibilities for team members, ensures merchandise is handled promptly, efficiently and accurately, develops and implements team goals, and oversees hiring, evaluation, development, discipline and termination of hourly associates. It covers 20 to 30 hourly associates and typically reports to the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage process: ensure operations procedures are followed, recommend changes to standard processes, and evaluate work methods to eliminate inefficiencies.
• Coach and develop associates: guide them in daily operations, train, coach and evaluate them, resolve relations issues, and handle hiring, compensation, discipline and terminations.
• Investigate operational errors, determine causes and recommend corrective action.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control, and review reports to improve productivity, accuracy, quality and expenses.
• Drive results: keep production rates aligned with the business plan and reduce irregularities and damages.
• Plan staffing needs based on reports and business metrics.
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and ability to relocate.
• Physical requirements: intermittent periods of continuous exertion such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing and lifting material or equipment, some heavy or awkward.
• Working conditions: indoors, with unpleasant conditions being infrequent.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Computer skills in software including Microsoft Office.
• Experience with warehouse management systems.
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a related field.
• High school diploma or GED; minimum 2 years of work experience.

Travel is typically less than 10% overnight. For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents, the pay range is $65,000 - $70,000.
