Distribution Center Area Supervisor

About the role

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to run the distribution center efficiently, safely and productively. The role handles management responsibilities for team members, ensures merchandise is handled promptly, efficiently and accurately, develops and implements team goals, and oversees hiring, evaluation, development, discipline and termination of hourly associates. It covers 20 to 30 hourly associates and typically reports to the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Manage process: ensure operations procedures are followed, recommend changes to standard processes, and identify ways to eliminate inefficiencies
• Coach and develop associates: guide them in daily operations, train, coach and evaluate them, resolve relations issues, and handle hiring, compensation, discipline and terminations
• Investigate operational errors and recommend corrective action
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control, and review reports on productivity, accuracy, quality and expenses
• Plan staffing needs and coordinate operations so production rates match the business plan and damage is reduced
• Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Assistant General Manager or General Manager

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Flexibility to work various shifts and ability to relocate
• Intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing and lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward
• Indoor working conditions

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Computer skills in software including Microsoft Office
• Experience with warehouse management systems
• 3+ years of supervisory experience in a related field
