Director of the Center for Student Engagement

About the role

The Director of the Center for Student Engagement leads the university’s efforts to promote student involvement and strengthen campus community. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President for Student Engagement, this senior position oversees a diverse portfolio of co‑curricular programs and services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for a department of nine full‑time staff, three graduate assistants, and multiple student employees.
• Supervise budgeting, operations, and assessment for over 250 student groups across areas such as student organizations, outdoor education, debate, orientation, media, government, club sports, and leadership programs.
• Coordinate and standardize student‑engagement strategies across schools, departments, and curricular units.
• Advise students, faculty, and advisory boards on co‑curricular involvement and allocate student organization benefits.
• Represent student co‑curricular involvement as an institutional priority in various university contexts.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in higher‑education student affairs or a comparable leadership role.
• Strong ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and complex budgets.
• Excellent interpersonal and advisory skills for working with students, faculty, and senior administrators.
• Commitment to social justice, intellectual inquiry, and community building.
