Director of Space Planning

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Facilities department is seeking a full‑time Director of Space Planning to lead space management on the UHealth Medical Campus. The role focuses on optimizing the use of clinical, research, academic and administrative spaces to support institutional goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive space management strategy for the academic health campus.
• Conduct data‑driven space utilization analysis, inventory management, forecasting and reporting.
• Coordinate renovation projects, new building development, and negotiate professional service contracts and leases.
• Oversee custodial, landscaping, and building‑maintenance activities.
• Manage equipment, fixture and furniture acquisitions and installations.
• Collaborate with senior leadership, Facilities, Real Estate and Capital Planning teams.
• Lead space planning committees, serve as primary liaison for department space needs.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, safety, security and internal controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in space planning, facilities management or related field.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to produce actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
• Leadership experience supervising staff and managing cross‑functional projects.
