Director of Preconstruction – Electrical Construction

About the role

The Director of Preconstruction will lead the entire pre‑construction process for large commercial electrical projects, from initial client engagement through estimating, budgeting, value engineering and project hand‑off. This senior position reports to company leadership and manages a team of five estimators.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client engagement, estimating, budgeting, bid strategy and value‑engineering activities for award‑winning projects.
• Mentor, develop and supervise a team of five estimators, ensuring accuracy, competitiveness and compliance.
• Collaborate with general contractors, internal project teams and clients throughout the pursuit process.
• Identify cost‑optimization and value‑engineering opportunities on large commercial projects.
• Support smooth transition from pre‑construction to operations and improve estimating processes.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in electrical estimating, pre‑construction or project management on large‑scale commercial projects.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing estimating or pre‑construction professionals.
• Strong understanding of electrical construction costs, budgets and execution.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and client‑relationship skills.

Required skills

• Accubid proficiency (preferred).
