Director of Operations – Conservatory of Music

About the role

The Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific is seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to lead and professionalise its day‑to‑day activities. Reporting to senior faculty, the incumbent will oversee concerts, facilities, technical equipment and staff across six performance and classroom spaces on the Stockton campus.

Key responsibilities

• Manage more than 150 annual concerts and events, coordinating scheduling, logistics and technical support.
• Supervise the Stage and Technical Director and lead weekly operations team meetings.
• Oversee usage, maintenance and procurement of lighting, sound, recording and stage equipment.
• Coordinate rehearsal and performance logistics across six facilities, including inventory control and invoicing.
• Develop emergency response plans and act as liaison with university safety and facilities teams.
• Train, assign and evaluate staff, student employees and volunteers.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations management within a performing‑arts or higher‑education environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple events and facilities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities, capable of supervising diverse teams.

Required skills
