About the role
The Director of Licensing – Physical Sciences and Engineering leads Texas A&M Innovation’s effort to commercialize technologies in advanced materials, semiconductors, photonics, energy, manufacturing, defense, transportation, infrastructure and digital domains. Reporting to senior leadership, this senior position builds and manages a high‑performing licensing team while serving as the primary liaison to faculty, researchers, industry partners and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute a commercialization strategy for physical sciences and engineering technologies aligned with Texas A&M Innovation’s impact‑first mission.
- Establish a specialized licensing function that deepens domain expertise and strengthens faculty relationships.
- Develop annual and multi‑year plans for portfolio growth, licensing performance, startup creation and industry engagement.
- Lead a team of licensing professionals, providing mentorship, performance management and resource allocation.
- Represent Texas A&M Innovation at meetings, events and strategic outreach activities to enhance the office’s reputation as a trusted commercialization partner.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in technology transfer, licensing or related commercialization roles.
- Demonstrated success in advancing physical sciences or engineering innovations to market.
- Strong network with academic researchers, industry executives and venture partners.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
