Director of Library & Assistant Professor

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks a dynamic leader to serve as both Director of the Library and Assistant Professor. This dual appointment combines strategic oversight of library services with academic responsibilities, contributing to the university’s mission of teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide vision and leadership for the development and expansion of library services.
• Develop, present, and manage the library budget to achieve strategic goals.
• Coordinate library activities with academic programs across the university’s schools.
• Hire, supervise, and mentor library staff, fostering professional development.
• Set priorities and policies for collection development, public services, and technical services.
• Serve as a member of the Academic Council and report to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

Required profile

• Earned master’s degree in Library or Library Information Sciences from an accredited program.
• At least three years of experience in a higher‑education library setting.
• Doctorate in library or a related field is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and consultative leadership skills.
• Commitment to collaborative work with faculty, staff, and administration.
