Director of Housekeeping

About the role

The Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, an upscale hotel near Woodfield Mall and 15 minutes from O'Hare, is looking for a Director of Housekeeping. The role leads all housekeeping across guest rooms, suites, public areas, back-of-house spaces and hotel facilities, driving cleanliness standards, operational excellence, guest satisfaction and team performance. It suits someone who enjoys balancing operational leadership, team development, service standards and hotel performance in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead housekeeping operations and recruit, train, coach, schedule and develop housekeeping teams.
• Maintain cleanliness, presentation, sanitation and brand standards across the property.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, cleanliness scores, online reviews, room inspections and service recovery to drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with Front Office, Engineering, Operations and hotel leadership teams.
• Oversee room inspections, productivity, labor management, inventory control, linen management and departmental budgets.
• Manage supplies, equipment, vendors, purchasing and operational expenses.
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures, sanitation standards, OSHA regulations, chemical handling guidelines and safety policies.
• Support VIP arrivals, groups, special projects, deep cleaning and renovation or transition activities.
• Analyze operational KPIs, productivity reports and labor metrics to find improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Preferred: 5+ years of progressive housekeeping, hotel operations or hospitality leadership experience.
• Preferred: previous Housekeeping Director, Executive Housekeeper, Rooms Division or hotel operations leadership experience.
• Preferred: knowledge of sanitation standards, OSHA regulations, chemical handling and hotel safety requirements.
• Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays and on-call support.

Required skills

• Strong leadership, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing budgets, operational forecasting, staffing plans, productivity metrics and vendor relationships.
• Knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspection standards, inventory management and labor management.
• Experience with hotel operational systems, housekeeping management systems and reporting tools preferred.
