Director of Finance (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead the finance function for an innovative energy technology firm. This remote position reports directly to executive leadership and combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end finance and accounting, including month‑end close, GAAP financial statements, general ledger, AP/AR and global indirect tax compliance.
• Manage billing, collections, cash management and oversee the annual financial audit.
• Prepare and present monthly financial and board reporting packages, building KPI decks and providing data‑driven recommendations.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modeling to support strategic planning and growth scenarios.
• Define and maintain revenue recognition practices for SaaS/ARR and professional services, ensuring consistency and compliance.
• Support sales operations, including commission calculations, pricing, deal desk setup and quota management.
• Maintain lender relationships, cash flow reporting and external stakeholder compliance.
• Drive systems and process improvements, leading the transition from QuickBooks to NetSuite and automating workflows with advanced Excel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in high‑growth or technology environments.
• Proven ability to build and scale finance functions independently.
• Strong analytical mindset with the capacity to translate data into actionable insights for leadership.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (current accounting system).
• Salesforce (CRM).
• Gusto or comparable EOR/payroll platform.
• NetSuite ERP implementation experience.
• Advanced Excel for automation and financial modeling.
