About the role

The Director for Finance and Operations, Student Affairs leads all budgetary and financial activities for the Student Affairs Division at Georgetown University’s Main Campus. Reporting to the Senior Business Manager, the role oversees a senior financial analyst and supports a large community of staff, student workers, and student organizations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and forecast the annual budget for the Student Affairs Division, including top‑down and detailed budgeting processes.
• Monitor actual performance against budget, conduct financial analysis, and oversee year‑end close activities.
• Supervise financial operations for 165 staff members, 860 student workers, 220 student organizations, residential education programs, student events, and volunteers.
• Review and approve HCM transactions in partnership with the Senior Finance Manager.
• Plan, track, and report on restricted funds and research expenditures as directed by senior finance leadership.
• Collaborate with procurement, accounting, and university offices such as Accounts Payable, Payroll Services, General Accounting, and the Provost Office Finance Team.
• Provide financial guidance to unit heads, deans, vice provosts, and other senior university stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting within a complex organization.
• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, including oversight of senior analysts.
• Strong understanding of higher‑education finance structures and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills for interaction with senior university leaders.
