Information Specialist

About the role

The Information Specialist serves as the front‑line representative for the Revenue and Receivables customer service operations at Georgetown University. The role blends financial counseling for student tuition and fee bills with communications projects that support the broader student population.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial counseling and respond to inquiries from students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding tuition, payment options, scholarship processing, and financial aid awards.
• Explain departmental policies such as billing, tuition assessment, financial aid disbursement, refunds, and penalties clearly and concisely.
• Assist students with non‑financial matters related to their university accounts, including web‑based obligations.
• Conduct outreach to undergraduate students to ensure authorized users are set up in the Student Account Services system.
• Promote the establishment of electronic refund profiles for all students to expedite over‑payment refunds.
• Regularly review and suggest updates to the departmental website based on policy or procedural changes.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse student and parent audiences.
• Knowledge of student financial aid, registration, meals and housing, and student health insurance processes.
• Ability to handle inquiries in person, by phone, email, ticketing system, or video‑conference platforms such as Zoom.
• Detail‑oriented with the capacity to explain complex financial policies in an understandable manner.
