Director of Finance & Accounting (Controller/FP&A)

About the role

The client, a privately‑held $400M apparel wholesaler in midtown Manhattan, is seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to report directly to the CFO. This permanent, full‑time position blends controllership and FP&A responsibilities and offers a hybrid work model (four days onsite, one day remote).

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CFO on special projects and strategic initiatives.
• Support and lead the Controllership team in financial reporting and compliance.
• Assist the FP&A function, treasury, and cash‑flow management.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and procedural efficiencies.
• Oversee brand‑licensing and royalty accounting (preferred).

Required profile

• 10+ years of finance experience, preferably in product‑based sectors such as wholesale, apparel, retail or manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution; CPA or public‑accounting background is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, dynamic personality.
