Director of Child Health

About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Public Health is seeking a Director of Child Health to provide statewide leadership and coordination of multiple child health programs. This senior position oversees initiatives such as Health Check, MIECHV, newborn screening, autism services, and more, ensuring high‑quality clinical services for Georgia’s children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and integrate all Child Health Programs, including Health Check, MIECHV, Early Hearing Detection, Newborn Screening, Autism Access, Babies Can’t Wait, Children’s Medical Services, and Children 1st.
• Provide expert guidance, technical assistance, training, and mentorship to program staff.
• Manage state and federal funding, grants, and contracts, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
• Develop standards and protocols for child health clinical services and oversee reporting and evaluation.
• Foster collaboration with other DPH programs, public health districts, agencies, and external partners.
• Supervise and develop staff within the Child Health division.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health or a related field (preferred) or a Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of managerial experience.
• Extensive experience in child health and public health program management.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets, grants, and multi‑agency collaborations.
