Director of Business Development - Senior Living
Experience Senior Living · Lone Tree
Job description
About the role
The Director of Business Development drives internal and external sales growth for Experience Senior Living's Colorado market. The role starts with a focused assignment supporting the sales and occupancy growth of one designated community (about 60% internal sales, 40% external business development); once that community is stabilized, the scope expands to external business development and referral relationship management across all Colorado communities.
Key responsibilities
- Internal sales and community stabilization: partner with the Executive Director and Director of Sales to meet occupancy goals, lead or support sales presentations, tours and prospect follow-up, maintain CRM data (Sherpa or equivalent), and coach sales teams during turnover or transitions.
- External business development: build relationships with healthcare providers, discharge planners, social workers and community partners, create referral pipelines, run business development plans with measurable goals, and track referral activity and conversion ratios for the SVP of Sales & Marketing.
- Represent ESL at regional networking events, health fairs and industry associations, and support the launch of new communities and sales team training.
- Work with leadership on market trends, competitive positioning and partnership opportunities, and give recommendations on pricing, marketing and promotions.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in senior living, healthcare marketing or business development.
- Proven success in referral development, census growth and relationship selling.
- Multi-site outreach or territory management experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout Colorado (about 75% travel once the role becomes statewide).
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
Required skills
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Aline/Sherpa preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with the Colorado healthcare and senior living landscape, including referral networks and competitive trends, preferred.
What we offer
- Base annual salary of $100,000, with eligibility for commission.
- Medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, life and voluntary life insurance, 401k with employer matching, paid holidays and up to 20 days PTO in the first three years.
