Director, Marketing Process & Technology
Ethos Life · Remote US
Job description
About the role
Ethos, a life insurance technology company, is hiring a Director, Marketing Process & Technology to join its Compliance department as a senior leader. The role owns marketing compliance review end to end: the process, the technology and most of the reviews themselves. It is a player-coach position: the director personally handles the judgment calls and escalations that automation should not decide, while owning the AI tool and driving its adoption. The position is remote within the US.
Key responsibilities
- Own the AI marketing review tool: configure, tune rules and prompts, test, release and integrate it with vendors and engineering teams, and grow the share of reviews handled by automation
- Define automation tiers (AI approval, AI review with human confirmation, always human) and set human-in-the-loop thresholds, sampling and QA
- Ensure auditability of AI-assisted decisions so any approval can be reconstructed and defended to an examiner, auditor or carrier
- Run intake, prioritization and SLAs for marketing review requests, and maintain review standards, approved language and recordkeeping
- Review consumer-facing, agent-facing, partner and product content, and keep standards up to date with regulatory changes
- Embed compliance early in the marketing lifecycle and act as thought leader to Marketing, Brand, Growth, Product and Legal
- Partner with the Compliance Risk Management team, support advertising filings and market conduct exams, and help draft compliance policies
- Report on review volume, cycle time, automation rate, quality and error rates, and eventually hire and manage a compliance analyst
Required profile
- 12+ years of compliance experience in the insurance industry, including significant hands-on marketing and advertising review
- Deep expertise in insurance regulatory marketing compliance, advertising requirements, disclosures and filing obligations across states
- Demonstrated ownership of a high-volume marketing review function
- Experience applying AI or automation to a compliance review workflow, and defending where human judgment is required
- Experience hiring, developing and managing an analyst, or clear readiness to do so
Required skills
- Process design: intake, SLAs, prioritization, throughput and cycle time
- Data literacy: measuring review quality and automation performance and reporting to senior leadership
- Strong written and verbal communication, able to hold a firm line with Marketing without becoming a bottleneck
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to fast-paced, ambiguous environments
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $352,000; the range covers all US locations and reflects base salary only.
