About the role

The Director, Global Policy & Advocacy (Education Financing) leads Malala Fund’s Debt Justice Initiative, shaping strategy to secure sustainable public funding for girls’ secondary education worldwide. Reporting to the Chief of External Affairs, this senior leader works at the intersection of sovereign debt, education financing, and girls’ rights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global advocacy strategy to increase funding for girls’ secondary education in low‑ and lower‑middle‑income countries.
• Lead a team of policy and advocacy professionals, ensuring evidence‑based analysis and high‑impact messaging.
• Build and maintain relationships with senior decision‑makers in governments and international financial institutions.
• Collaborate across Malala Fund departments to embed education resourcing into broader organizational plans.
• Translate complex financial and policy issues into compelling advocacy campaigns.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in global policy, advocacy, or international development finance.
• Deep understanding of sovereign debt, education financing, and girls’ rights.
• Track record of influencing high‑level stakeholders and shaping public policy.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
