Director, FRBNY Markets – Chicago Office

About the role

The Director of the FRBNY Markets Chicago Office leads the Chicago‑based segment of the Open Market Trading Desk. Reporting to senior leadership, the role ensures seamless coordination between Chicago operations and the New York Desk, supporting the Federal Reserve’s monetary‑policy and financial‑stability functions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership, direction and oversight for the Chicago office and its staff.
• Maintain effective communication and integration with the Desk, Markets Group, FRBNY headquarters, the Board, the System and the U.S. Treasury.
• Ensure continuity of Desk operations during severe disruptions to New York‑based activities.
• Foster strong relationships with Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago leaders and staff.
• Support analysis of market developments, SOMA balance‑sheet monitoring and Treasury auction execution.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial markets, monetary‑policy implementation or related Federal Reserve functions.
• Proven senior leadership abilities with a track record of managing complex, multi‑location teams.
• Strong understanding of open‑market operations, SOMA portfolio management and Treasury financing.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
