Director, External Communications, MIM

About the role

MetLife Investment Management is seeking a Director of External Communications to lead the external reputation of its institutional asset management business. The role will shape how investors, analysts and other stakeholders view one of the world’s leading investment managers, translating market insights into compelling stories that support MetLife’s purpose and growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute external communications and media‑relations strategies that enhance MetLife Investment Management’s brand among target audiences.
• Create thought‑leadership content, executive messaging, media materials and digital communications that showcase investment expertise and strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with senior investment leaders, research teams, distribution and marketing partners to identify and amplify timely storytelling opportunities.
• Manage proactive and reactive media engagements, including spokesperson preparation, issue management and response strategies for reputational matters.
• Coordinate measurement and reporting to assess communications effectiveness and identify opportunities to increase visibility and impact.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 10 + years of experience in external communications, public relations, media relations or corporate communications, preferably within asset management, investments or financial services.
• Proven track record of developing and executing communications programs that support business objectives and strengthen organizational reputation.
• Established relationships with financial‑media outlets and a deep understanding of the investment management landscape.
