Director, Business Development

About the role

Radiant, an innovative startup developing portable nuclear micro‑reactors, is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead pipeline creation from El Segundo, CA. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will own the end‑to‑end sales process for a groundbreaking product that can replace diesel generators for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and qualify high‑value opportunities across Fortune 500 companies without relying on warm leads.
• Initiate and manage client conversations from first contact through discovery, proposal, and term‑sheet negotiation.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to draft and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Build and maintain a high‑quality pipeline, emphasizing strategic fit over volume.
• Develop tailored proposals and external communications that articulate Radiant’s value proposition.
• Gain sufficient technical knowledge of the micro‑reactor product, siting, licensing, and utility integration to speak credibly with customers.
• Represent Radiant’s mission, values, and brand in every customer interaction.

Required profile

• 7‑10+ years of experience in business development, sales, or a comparable commercial role.
• Proven track record of originating B2B deals without warm leads, especially at a national scale.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• U.S. citizen or green‑card holder.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
