Digital Inclusion Intern

About the role

The Digital Inclusion Intern will support the IRC’s Salt Lake City Digital Inclusion program, helping refugee families and new Americans gain reliable access to internet, devices, and essential digital skills. Working closely with the Education Program Manager and the Digital Literacy and Access VISTA, the intern will play a hands‑on role in bridging the digital divide for vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the distribution of computers, tablets, and other digital devices to refugee clients.
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group training on smartphone and computer basics.
• Support digital literacy and STEM education activities for youth and adults.
• Help create short educational videos that promote digital learning.
• Troubleshoot common device issues and guide clients through basic problem‑solving.
• Contribute content for social‑media updates and program newsletters.
• Collect data, document activities, and prepare monthly progress reports.
• Provide general office and reception support as needed.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated, dependable, and detail‑oriented.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience teaching technology basics or troubleshooting devices is preferred.
• Prior work with refugees or diverse communities is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
