Diesel Mechanic - Asset Specialist

About the role

ApacheiP is hiring an Asset Specialist (Diesel Mechanic) in Geismar, Louisiana, reporting to the VP of Asset Management. The role covers routine maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of diesel-powered forklifts and industrial air compressors, plus processing, reconciling and reporting inventory data so the organization can make informed asset management decisions. The specialist also supports day-to-day operations related to software-based inventory processes.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Cummins engines, including fuel systems, turbochargers, emissions systems and electronic controls.
• Inspect, test and maintain hydraulic systems, pneumatic components and mechanical assemblies.
• Carry out preventative maintenance schedules and keep accurate service records.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify engine and system faults, and respond to breakdowns with emergency repairs.
• Collaborate with operations and safety teams to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area following safety protocols.
• Manage software programs such as Quantify to keep an accurate inventory of company-owned assets, and provide administrative support to yards and customer sites.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with Cummins engines and industrial equipment.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card.

Required skills

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as Cummins INSITE, multimeters and scan tools.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics and service bulletins.
• Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite.
