Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – UAMS Health Benton/Bryant

About the role

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will perform a variety of ultrasound examinations for patients at UAMS Health Benton/Bryant, providing high‑quality diagnostic images that support clinical decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct obstetric, abdominal, vascular and other diagnostic ultrasound studies following established protocols.
• Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal image quality.
• Document findings accurately in the electronic health record and communicate results to physicians.
• Adhere to patient safety, infection control, and radiation safety standards.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and students as needed.

Required profile

• Current Arkansas state license or registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
• Demonstrated experience in performing a range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating modern ultrasound machines.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology relevant to sonography.
• Ability to acquire and interpret diagnostic‑quality images.
• Familiarity with PACS and electronic health record systems.
