Development Officer

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Development Officer to lead and expand its fundraising initiatives. This full‑time position will focus on cultivating major gift donors, managing donor relationships, and supporting the university’s revenue goals.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and engage a portfolio of prospective donors.
• Develop and execute strategies to secure gifts and meet fundraising targets.
• Collaborate with campus departments to design programs and events that motivate major donors.
• Maintain accurate donor records, including contacts, communications, and proposals.
• Prepare fundraising budgets, revenue projections, and stewardship plans.
• Recommend faculty and leadership involvement in donor cultivation and solicitation.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and internal controls, and train staff on these procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum three years of experience in fundraising, development, or related nonprofit work.
• Demonstrated ability to manage donor pipelines and achieve revenue goals.
• Strong understanding of compliance and internal control processes.
