Design Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Etched builds AI chips tailored to specific model architectures, and is looking for a Design Infrastructure Engineer to join its growing team in Cupertino. The engineer builds and maintains the infrastructure for electronic and mechanical design, manages ECAD and MCAD workflows, sets company standards and works with product lifecycle and workflow tools to deliver high-quality custom silicon.

Key responsibilities

• Help set up and maintain the PLM system for engineering BOMs, changes and revisions from NPI to production
• Implement company-standard BOM trees and part-number standards, and integrate BOMs from PLM into the ERP system
• Enforce library standards aligned with JEDEC and IPC, with regular audits and quality checks
• Create and maintain ECAD/MCAD integration flows between electrical and mechanical design teams
• Align JIRA workflows with PLM to track bugs, tasks and change management
• Administer ECAD (e.g. Cadence Allegro) and MCAD (e.g. Siemens NX) tools, including licensing, configuration and troubleshooting
• Standardize design release control (ECO) and provide design review guidelines and frameworks

Required profile

• Experience with Cadence Allegro or similar ECAD tools for PCB layout and schematic capture
• Experience with PLM systems and BOM management, including integrating design data into ERP systems
• Knowledge of ECAD/MCAD workflows, such as Allegro Layout and Siemens NX
• Familiarity with JEDEC, IPC and other industry standards
• Hands-on experience with JIRA or similar task management systems, and bug database management
• Experience administering ECAD/MCAD tools, including user support, configuration and maintenance
• Experience with custom silicon or AI hardware product development, and preferably in an NPI environment
• Knowledge of ERP systems integrated with PLM, and strong cross-functional communication skills
