Design Engineer - Service Parts

About the role

Join Harley‑Davidson’s Product Development Center in Wauwatosa, WI as a Design Engineer focused on service parts. You will work across multiple motorcycle systems, collaborating with product engineering, testing, supply chain and sourcing to keep customers on the road.

Key responsibilities

• Support and execute engineering projects that ensure continuity of Harley‑Davidson service parts.
• Solve complex component and system design challenges using creative and analytical methods.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop robust designs and test plans.
• Use CAD models, virtual assemblies and drawings (Creo, PLM) to verify fit, clearances and tolerances.
• Apply DFMEA, DVP&R and support analysis of test findings.
• Assist PPAP and APQP processes for new designs and design modifications.
• Communicate technical information clearly to diverse audiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong foundation in mechanical design and understanding of component/system interactions.
• Willingness to learn new products, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to deliver designs that meet performance, quality and cost targets.

Required skills

• Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) – Creo, PLM.
• Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
• Design Verification Plan & Reports (DVP&R).
• Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
• Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
• Predictive analysis and traditional engineering calculations.
