Design Engineer (Contract)

About the role

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Design Engineer on a contract basis to join its Engineering department in Wichita, KS. The role supports the airline in‑service fleet by developing quality repair solutions for aircraft structures, covering both metallic and composite components.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design solutions for simple to routine repair tasks, reviewing design data and damage reports.
• Collaborate with Static Stress, F&DT and other Airbus departments to create optimum repair solutions.
• Create or modify technical documents such as repair instructions, drawings and technical communications using Airbus applications.
• Provide clear responses to repair queries and communicate status and issues to supervision.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Located in the Wichita, KS metropolitan area.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) with emphasis on structural design.
• 0‑6 years of design experience in airframe structures or system installation projects.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and BOMs, and to write reports.
• Strong computer proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
