About the role
A prestigious award-winning architectural studio in a creative Washington DC neighbourhood is looking for a Design Architect to carry the design vision from napkin sketch to final punch list. Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the project design vision with senior directors, carrying design intent through concept, design development, construction documents and beyond.
- Produce creative design solutions and precise construction detailing that stand up to the real world.
- Select and present building systems and materials to clients, turning programme goals into tangible spaces.
- Coordinate with project managers and consultants so design, budget, schedule and code stay aligned.
- Mentor and delegate within the project team, and oversee design peer reviews and jurisdictional approvals.
- Champion sustainable design where the brief allows and contribute to firm-wide design culture.
Required profile
- 8-12 years of experience in commercial office or multifamily residential architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture (professional degree preferred); valid US work permit required.
- Architectural licence preferred; LEED GA or AP is a welcome addition.
- Solid grounding in building codes and zoning regulations.
- Strong organisational, review and quality-control skills, with an eye for graphic excellence, constructability and design intent.
- Superior communication skills, able to sell a concept in the room and document it precisely afterward.
Required skills
- Revit, Enscape and SketchUp; 3D rendering is a bonus.
What we offer
- Hybrid working, up to 2 days remote per week, with flexible scheduling.
- Competitive salary with health, dental and life insurance.
- 401(k) savings plan, generous paid leave and holidays.
- Dedicated mentoring programme and iLAB Research Microgrant opportunities.
