Deputy Director, Lending and Partnerships

About the role

The Deputy Director, Lending and Partnerships will lead the daily underwriting and lending operations of the Center for Economic Opportunity, a certified community development financial institution. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will drive the delivery of small‑dollar loans to refugees, immigrants and other low‑income borrowers across a national network of partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of underwriting, loan processing, and portfolio management.
• Analyze borrower data and lending performance to inform strategy and risk management.
• Provide technical support and guidance to lending and service‑delivery partners.
• Develop and deepen partnerships with community organizations and financial institutions.
• Ensure compliance with CDFI regulations and internal policies.
• Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on lending activity and outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in community development finance or similar lending environments.
• Strong understanding of low‑income borrower needs and credit access challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
